Arturo is the Vice President of Insurance for International Businesses. He leads the insurance division for the businesses, including the placement of policies for existing plants, projects under construction, projects in development, and acquisitions, as well as the coordination of risk engineering and insurance claims for AES' international businesses, including Mexico, El Salvador, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Chile and Argentina.

Arturo has led insurance efforts for new projects using innovative clean technologies that meet the needs of our clients in a constantly changing global environment: solar, wind, hydroelectric and liquefied natural gas (LNG) technologies.

Before being appointed Vice President of Insurance for International Businesses in 2022, Arturo served as Chief Operating Officer for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, as well as Vice President of Generation and Energy Management at AES Brazil, and as Director of Engineering and Construction for Latin America. Previously, Arturo held roles in finance and operations.

Arturo holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, a master’s degree in engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University.

He currently works for AES Changuinola SRL, from where he provides his services. He lives in Panama City with his wife and daughter and enjoys traveling to the countryside and practicing sports.
