AES Panama's Commitment to the United Nations Global Compact
Energy, in any of its forms, it a fundamental instrument for nations’ economic and social progress and access to these services has been acknowledged as a prerequisite to achieve the eight Millenium Development Goals, established by the United Nations member states. Access to affordable energy services is a competitiveness factor that allows for efficient development and functioning of education, health and infrastructure while leveraging on generation of wealth for all citizens.
In AES, we believe the work we do is vital. As evidence of this, AES has upheld its commitment to Panama since its entrance to the local market in 1999, investing more than $1,000 million to develop the country’s electricity market, thus fulfilling its mission to improve lives providing safe, reliable and sustainable energy solutions in every market we serve.
This is a task we to grounded on values, facing complex challenges with high operational and safety standards while complying with environmental norms.
With this at heart, in 2009 we assumed the commitment to adopt and comply with the United Nations Global Compact’s 10 prinicples, and today we stand on this commitment sharing our sustainability reports.
